Requirements

Doctor of Medicine Eligibility

To enroll in a Doctor of Medicine (MD) program in India, candidates must satisfy strict academic and licensing guidelines regulated by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

1. Prerequisite Qualification

  • Degree Required: You must possess an MBBS degree from a medical college recognized by the NMC or the erstwhile Medical Council of India (MCI).

  • Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs): If you completed your MBBS abroad, you must pass the FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduates Examination) or NEXT exam and register with the NMC/State Medical Council before applying for an MD.

2. Mandatory Internship Completion

  • Rotating Internship: You must successfully complete your 1-year mandatory rotatory residential internship.

  • Cutoff Date: The NMC sets a specific deadline every year (typically by March or April of the admission year) by which your internship completion certificate must be issued.

3. Professional Registration

  • Medical Registration: You must hold a permanent or provisional registration certificate issued by the NMC (National Medical Commission) or any State Medical Council (SMC).

  • Proof Requirement: This registration certificate is mandatory during the document verification stage of counselling.

4. Entrance Examination Requirement
